Build, submit, and manage Meta-approved WhatsApp message templates for outbound campaigns, automation triggers, and customer updates.

Step-by-Step Guide

Navigate to Templates

Go to Settings โ†’ Channels โ†’ WhatsApp โ†’ Message Templates. Click New Template.

Choose Template Category

Marketing: promotional messages, offers. Utility: transactional, order updates, receipts. Authentication: OTP codes. Choose correctly โ€” Meta reviews each category differently.

Warning: Misclassifying a template category can lead to rejection or account restrictions.

Build Your Template Body

Write your template text. Use {{1}}, {{2}} etc. for dynamic variables. Keep body under 1024 characters. Add header (optional: text, image, video, document), footer, and CTA/quick-reply buttons.

Add Media Header (optional)

Image headers must be JPG/PNG (โ‰ค5MB). Video headers must be MP4 (โ‰ค16MB). Document headers must be PDF (โ‰ค100MB). When using media variables, provide a sample URL during submission.

Submit for Meta Review

Click Submit for Approval. Meta typically reviews within 24โ€“48 hours. You will receive an email and in-app notification on approval or rejection.

Tip: Rejected templates can be edited and resubmitted. Common rejection reasons: promotional content in Utility category, vague variable placeholders, or broken URL buttons.
